Meet the inspiring speakers who will be sharing God's word at CTCC Retreat 2025

Rev. Matthew Tsai - Speaker

Rev. Matthew Tsai

Pastor, Chicago

Rev. Matthew Tsai is both a pastor and a medical doctor. Born in Changhua, Taiwan, he graduated first in his class from National Taiwan University College of Medicine in 1975. He has served as a psychiatrist at National Taiwan University Hospital; Superintendent of Hengchun Christian Hospital; General Secretary of Luke Mission; Senior Pastor of East Los Angeles Evangelical Formosan Church; and Senior Pastor of Chicago Evangelical Formosan Church. In 2002, he earned his Doctor of Intercultural Studies from Trinity International University in Chicago. In January 2005, he returned to Taiwan to serve as Senior Pastor of Taipei Peace Presbyterian Church. Rev. Tsai and his wife retired from Taipei Peace Presbyterian Church on June 30, 2015. Starting August 1, they began serving as volunteers at Dongshi Church of the Rural Gospel Mission. In July 2015, they began participating in theological education ministry at Chuang Hsin Theological Seminary. In May 2017, they concluded their service at Chuang Hsin Theological Seminary and accepted an invitation to teach at Wesley Theological Seminary in June. They gradually phased out their pastoral service at Dongshi Church in July 2017. In February 2018, they were invited to teach at Tainan Theological College and Seminary and Holy Light Theological Seminary. In May 2018, they began serving as consulting pastors at Puli Christian Hospital, responsible for planning and promoting spiritual care ministry in long-term care. In December 2019, they began promoting the establishment of the Ladder Dream Association, developing ministries that integrate theology and professional practice. (April 2025)

Pastor Chen Qin-Wen - Speaker

Pastor Chen Qin-Wen

Pastor, West Chester Community Evangelical Church

Pastor Chen Qinwen was born in Taiwan. After being called in 1990, he served as the head of the evangelistic team at the Universal Light Whole Person Care Center. He married Sister Yang Yonglei in 1993, entered China Evangelical Theological Seminary in 1995, and graduated with a master's degree in Taoism in 1998. After graduation, he has been serving in Taiwan Baptist Church Zhonghe Muxin Church and was ordained as a pastor in September 2001. During the pastoral ministry in Taiwan, he also participated in the ministry of Christian Good News TV with his wife. In 2003, the whole family came to the United States to serve in the Lord Grace Church in Westchester together with his wife. They have a daughter and a son. Pastor Chen came to the United States from Taiwan to receive God's grace and hope to become God's "messenger of love".

Rev. Doug Lee - Speaker

Rev. Doug Lee

Manager of Spiritual Care, Torrance Memorial Medical Center

Rev. Doug Lee is a NorCal native from Foster City and graduated from UC San Diego with a BA in Religious Studies and went on to Talbot School of Theology where he received his M.Div in Pastoral Care and Counseling. Doug and his wife, Angelina, have two beautiful daughters, Alexandra (18) and Joanna (17), and a Siberian Husky named Titus (5). Doug and his family have served in youth ministry, church planting, evangelism and outreach, as well as local and international missions for the past 28 years. Doug is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Covenant Church and a Board Certified Hospital Chaplain and currently serves as the Manager of the Spiritual Care Department at Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance, California. He is an ENFP and 7 on the Enneagram so he's all about having fun with different kinds of people. In his free time, he enjoys CrossFit, golf, skiing, traveling, cooking, movies, hanging out with my girls, listening to podcasts, and reading anything written by CS Lewis, NT Wright, or Eugene Peterson. Doug is passionate about getting to know people and caring for them in all circumstances and stages of life.
